WE’RE
HERE TO MAKE
SPORT EVERYONE’S
GAME

THE CHALLENGE

Sport can be a source of joy, health, and belonging. At its best, it builds community and opens doors to opportunity.

But for far too many in Canada, that promise is out of reach– or broken.

Some never get to play. Others step into spaces that are unsafe, discriminatory, or indifferent to their dignity.

Sport will only live up to its promise when dignity is built in from the start.

OUR INITIATIVES

THEORY OF CHANGE

THE CHALLENGE

Across Canada, not everyone is able to participate in sport, play, and physical activity in ways that respect their full humanity. Access, safety, and treatment are shaped by income, geography, race, disability, gender, and immigration status—meaning many people are excluded, put at risk, or made to feel they do not belong.

CONDITIONS REQUIRED FOR CHANGE

SPORT AS A
HUMAN RIGHT

Canadian legislative and policy frameworks recognise sport as a human right.

RIGHTS BASED SPORTS SYSTEMS

A human rights–based
approach to sport becomes the standard for governance, safety, dignity, inclusion, and equity in Canadian sport.

CENTERING LIVED EXPERIENCE

People and communities most affected by exclusion and harm are centered in decision-making and shaping solutions.

SUSTAINED INVESTMENT

Sport, play, and movement are treated as essential social infrastructure, supported by sustained investment.

LEVERS FOR CHANGE

ADVOCACY

Influence legislation and policy to recognize sport as a human right in Canada.

NARRATIVE SHIFT

Publish research, analysis, and stories of lived experience to demonstrate why the right to sport, play, and movement matters.

COALITION & CAPACITY-BUILDING

Support rights-based approaches at community and institution levels so dignity and inclusion are felt in everyday participation.

THE OUTCOME

A Canada where sport, play, and physical activity respect the whole person, where participation is safe, fair, and dignified, and everyone can belong.
